We’ve been talking about this movie for a couple months now. It’s called Courageous and we’ve been telling everyone we know to see it. Last weekend 1 MILLION people did. Were you one of them? If you were, we’d love for you to leave a comment below and share your thoughts with us.
One of our contributors, Robyn McKelvy, had this to say about the movie:
The stars of this movie are guys whose occupations worldwide are looked upon as the bravest but this movie is here to set the record straight. Courage is so much more than what we may do on our jobs.
This movie is filled with fun and adventure. We laughed, cried (my husband, several times), held our breath, and clapped. There was a lot of truth packaged in palatable ways so that we were not bored. Each time I thought I had figured out the plot, I was pleasantly surprised with more action. But most of all, we left knowing that what we had just experienced had left us wanting what these men have.
In an age where few movies appeal to both sexes, it is my recommendation that this movie will. It shows the strength and intuition of women without the demeaning of men. It captures the bold sensitivity of men without making them effeminate.
Courageous doesn’t stop there. It shows how our lack of attention is hindering the next generation if we continue to leave men out of the picture. It also pictures ways to get back on track and care for those who may not have what they need in role models. This movie allows us, in some ways, to peek into our own homes and see that we may be missing what is important to our own children. It gives us a glance at the most important things that have been taken from us and how to get them back. This takes time and dependence on God’s strength because He is the one who gives us the courage to accomplish what is eternal.
Courageous is a movie that will make you feel like you have just made an investment in your future and you will want to see it again.
If you haven’t yet seen it, we hope you’ll go this weekend. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this message of courageous fatherhood spread across the country and caught men’s (and women’s) hearts on fire for our families?
If you’re looking for a way to go deeper after seeing the film, check out The Resolutions books. There is one for women shared below. But there is also one for men as well.
Author Priscilla Shirer challenges all women to be intentional about embracing and thriving in God’s beautiful and eternal calling on their lives. The Resolution for Women inspires women with intentional, spirit-filled living from three unique angles. Section one, entitled, “This Is Who I Am,” helps a woman define herself as “authentically me, purposefully feminine, surprisingly satisfied, and faithfully His.” Section two, “This Is What I Have,” invites her to value “my best, my blessing, my honor, and my heart.” And Section three, “This Is What Matters To Me,” focuses on joyfully honoring God as a wife, mother, and family member while resolving to live with the grace that leaves a godly legacy. The Resolution for Women is designed to inspire a revolution.

My husband and I saw it. We both thought it was a great movie. It touched on some things that we've been discussing lately.
