Men Stepping Up – Super Bowl Saturday

Last spring at MomLife Boot Camp we had an amazing time of teaching that was above and beyond all we could have ever hoped for or imagined! Go God! All the moms in attendance were positively giddy due to the fun, fellowship, bonding, and beauty of our surroundings at Pine Cove.

Excitement was in the air, and a byproduct of that excitement was the fact that the moms were constantly coming up to me and asking for more! Interestingly a large portion of the “more” they wanted was for the men in their lives. Many moms shared that they were so encouraged and ministered to by what MomLife Boot Camp had to offer them as women that they wanted to know if we had something they could take home to their men – their husbands, sons, fathers.

At that time FamilyLife was working on an exciting new video teaching project based on Dennis Rainey’s book, Stepping Up. We quickly rallied and got our hands on the trailer to the video series and after showing it to the assembled ladies we had some seriously excited moms!

Well, the video series was recently released and has been previewed by various men folk! I have spoken to men of all ages and young men (including my 16-year-old son and a group of his friends) and without exception any fella who has utilized the Stepping Up video study has walked away inspired to step up and pull other men into becoming part of the study.

This is no ordinary video series, it is not just a “talking head” type of study – it is filled with thoughtful commentary, man-on-the-street interviews, real-life stories, drama, humor and is thought provoking – not preachy. It seems to really strike a chord with men in an amazingly upbeat, challenging way. Not guilt inducing, but leaving men with the desire to … well, step up! Dennis Rainey has always had a knack for reaching men – because he is a man’s man who leads by example.

I share this with you, our MomLife Today community, because I want you to have the opportunity to let your men know about the Stepping Up video series. Enjoy the trailer for the video series and share this with the men in your life. As a matter of fact maybe your church, community center or your own home needs to be a gathering place for men on Super Bowl Saturday to watch the big simulcast of Stepping Up – that would be something to get excited and cheer about!

Has your man participated in a men’s type study and did he enjoy it?
