About Tricia

Greetings! I’m Tricia Goyer also known as there’s-no-such-thing-as-a-dull-moment girl. I’ve been married to John for twenty years and have four children ages 21, 18, 16 and … 3 months! I’m also soon to be a mother-in-law to a young women I’ve been praying for for 21 years, Katie. A former teen mom, I love encouraging moms of all ages, including young ones who find their lives interrupted by parenting. Recent transplants to Little Rock, my husband and I are excited to be part of FamilyLife. I’ve been homeschooling for sixteen years, and I write books and articles in my spare time. My greatest joy, though, is being a wife and a mom. I’m excited to be a new mom of our adopted baby girl Alyssa after nearly raising the first three to independence. John and I are hoping to adopt more in the future, which means I’m looking ahead to 40+ years of active parenting. Yahoo!

How to be a Selfless Mom

fund_0b_019

(or at least get started that direction) 1. Share the cookies you have hidden. 2. Don’t sign your child up for an activity to help you look like a “good” mom. (Adding to your child’s schedule to pump your ego never works.) 3. Cut an activity you signed up for to create more down time [...]

Every Thursday night our family loads up in the car and heads to inner city Little Rock. This includes me, my husband, our homeschooled 17-year-old son, our toddler, and sometimes my college-age daughter. We set out on a special mission, to serve Teen Moms in the area through a program called Teen MOPS. Teen MOPS [...]

Family Traditions: A Glimpse into Christmas Future

Christmas-Wreath

Have you ever thought about family traditions? As I helped my 1-year-old place ornaments on the Christmas tree this year I imagined her doing the same thing with her children—and maybe even grandchildren—one day. Traditions are beliefs and customs handed down through generations. By sharing meaningful moments with your kids you’re sending yourself into the [...]

12 Ways to Help Your Children Honor Veterans

VeteransDay

As a mom, I never thought much about Veteran’s Day until after I’d started interviewing World War II veterans for a novel I was writing. Yet as November neared I knew I wanted my children to have the same privilege I did in getting to know the men and women who served our country. When [...]

The Perfect Schedule

Perfect-Blocks

My kids’ laughter met my ears as I rushed into the living room. They sat around the carpeted floor surrounded by Lego blocks. Each of them had a project in various stages of completion. Smiles filled their faces. I glanced at the clock and groaned. My throat tightened and an ache moved to my temples. [...]

Homeschooling Fears

School-Supplies

When I first started homeschooling I was afraid of a few things. 1. My kids would get on my nerves. 2. My kids wouldn’t get enough socialization. 3. My educational weaknesses would be my kids’ educational weaknesses. Now in my 17th year of homeschooling, I can say that all of those have come TRUE. 1. [...]

Time to be Courageous

Courageous_the_movie

One of the hardest things about being a newlywed was seeing my new husband as my father’s son. As a single mom before we got married, I’d gotten used to making all the decisions. I thought I knew what was best. After all, I was the mom. The truth is that things didn’t get easier [...]

A Passionate-About-Life Man is a Sexy Man

CB065471

… are you helping your husband follow his dreams? I came upon a realization yesterday as I hugged my husband. I’m a bit rounder than I was when we got married. So is he. We both have more wrinkles. His hair is speckled with gray. (My hair would have more speckles, too, if it wasn’t [...]

How to Ruin Your Teens for Life in 11 Easy Steps

Teens-Jumping

1. Hide your past mistakes. Put on an act that you’re perfect and they’re the ones with all the problems. (After all if your teens hear what you did in your past, they might want to follow.) 2. Don’t worry about where they are going and what they are doing. You didn’t want to be [...]
